Darren Williamson, RCC
Background & Training
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #23397) under the BCACC, with a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University.
I use an approach pioneered by Viktor Frankl, who believed that the key to good mental health was to live meaningfully and authentically. In therapy, I will ask guiding questions meant to help you gain insight into yourself and the issues in life that are holding you back.
I primarily work through a lens known as existential therapy. I also utilize aspects of Jungian psychology. I am broadly trained in many therapeutic styles, and will bring in other approaches when needed to ensure therapy is best tailored to your individual needs.
Prior to obtaining my degree I worked as a support worker in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, doing outreach work and working in the Salvation Army shelters. During this time I worked frequently with poverty and addiction. I can provide a safe, empathetic, non-judgemental environment for people dealing with substance addiction (e.g. alcohol, cocaine, amphetamines) as well as process addiction (e.g. sex, pornography, gambling, internet use).
